The latest news on re-opening the Lawford House Pool.

I just wanted to update you on where we are on reopening the pool. I, and the rest of the UK, were really hoping we could have reopened this weekend. We have done a risk assessment, put some guidelines together and bought copious amounts of hand sanitiser. However, annoyingly pools and nail bars were left out of the last government announcement. Swim England have been lobbying parliament ever since with some strong Olympian support behind them.

I have just heard that there will be a timetable for the reopening of pools announced next week. Our problem is we are put into the same group as public pools, the opening of public pools is far more complex an operation. Anyway please, bear with us as soon as I hear I will let you know.

Let’s hope it is very soon!

Simply the best! Lawford Pool is truly amazing and in such a beautiful location. Outstanding architecture & thought has gone into making it truly outstanding. Swimming in Lawford Pool is really an all round, fabulous experience not to be missed! Swim, swim swim!

With it’s calm atmosphere & well-managed attention to detail, few pools are as pleasurable & pristine. The serene & secluded garden is perfectly framed by picture windows allowing the eye to travel & take in the wildlife. As the principal aim is rehabilitation much thought has gone into the quality fittings & access arrangements. A plunge perfect place to immerse oneself; frequently.

We pitched up, myself, husband and adult son and daughter, hoping for a relaxed restful experience for my disabled husband. We found so much more…The facilities for my husband who gets about on a mobility scooter were outstanding, nothing left to chance from the accessible changing room to the special wheelchair taking him into the pod into the beautiful water - perfect temperature. And to top it all, the most stunning surroundings viewed through the huge glass walls. Like a five star boutique spa all to ourselves. Jenny and Richard could not have been more thoughtful and helpful and all in all turned our visit into a really wonderful experience. We will be back.

Jenny’s journey

After being injured in October 2018 after falling off a horse, I was paralysed at T5 and became a wheelchair user. Before my accident I was very active and independent, and I was also newly married to my wonderful husband.

However, the BIG question for me, once I was out of rehab and back in the big wide world with all my able bodied friends, was how do I keep fit?
